Eclipse S Table Lamp by Luis Perez de la Oliva and Pedro Martín García for Fase
This is one of the rarest and most visually distinctive floor lamps ever produced by Fase: the Eclipse S model, patented in 1966 under the names of Pedro Martín and Luis Pérez de la Oliva. The "S" stands for Suelo—Spanish for "floor"—and this version towers at 144 cm tall, topped by a commanding 45 cm diameter lampshade, one of the largest in Fase’s catalog.
The design merges space-age boldness with organic warmth. The large plastic diffuser emits a soft, ambient light, controlled by a rotary dimmer located on top. The diffuser is encircled by a veneered wooden ring, a feature that adds tactile and visual warmth to the otherwise sleek, modern form. Inside, four bulbs (max 25W each) ensure an even and adjustable glow.
The chrome base and stem have been fully restored and re-chromed to pristine condition. A wood-covered section at the center of the stem functions as a grip—both a practical and elegant detail consistent with Fase’s approach to design.
This model is one of the most elusive in the Fase legacy and has been documented in Fase, The Book – Mystery Solved (2018) by Óscar Jiménez Serrano and Juan Luis Gómez Frieiro. A true collector’s piece and a centerpiece in any interior.
