Habitat Orange Mushroom Floor Lamp Acrylic Steel Space Age Postmodern Glow

This Habitat orange mushroom floor lamp is a striking example of postmodern design influenced by the iconic space age lighting aesthetics of the late 20th century. Combining sculptural presence with functional ambient lighting, this piece features a bold translucent orange acrylic dome diffuser that emits a warm, atmospheric glow when illuminated, making it ideal for creating mood lighting in both residential and commercial interiors.
The lamp stands on a slender tulip-shaped base in lacquered steel, a form reminiscent of mid-century modern design, reinterpreted through a late 1990s to early 2000s lens typical of Habitat’s accessible yet design-conscious production. The internal structure reveals a clean and honest construction, with painted metal supports and a central light source enhanced by a reflective bulb, amplifying the light diffusion through the acrylic shade.
Operated via a simple inline switch on the cable, the lamp remains easy to use while preserving its original configuration. The combination of vibrant orange acrylic and white lacquered steel creates a strong visual contrast, making this floor lamp a statement piece within space age, postmodern, or contemporary interiors.
In very good vintage condition, with signs of use consistent with age. The acrylic diffuser presents a crack that is positioned beneath the shade holder and is not visible when the lamp is assembled and in use. Minor surface wear and light scratches are present on the base. Fully functional.
