Philips Brass Dome Table Lamp Mid Century Modern Stilnovo Style Dutch 1960s

A sculptural Philips brass table lamp from the 1960s, defined by its elegant dome shade and refined mid-century modern silhouette.
Produced in the Netherlands, the design combines a strong architectural presence with a sense of lightness. Two polished brass tubular supports rise in a smooth, continuous curve from an elongated oval base, creating a dynamic, almost cantilevered composition. This fluid structure supports a wide black lacquered metal dome shade, which directs light downward while maintaining a bold, graphic profile.
A distinctive feature of the lamp is the integrated top reflector opening, fitted with a mirrored bulb element that enhances both illumination and visual depth. At the front of the shade, the original Philips brass switch plate is preserved, engraved with the period shield logo featuring stars and waves—an authentic detail that firmly anchors the piece in its original production era.
The combination of brass and black lacquered metal places the lamp firmly within the vocabulary of mid-century European lighting. Its sculptural form and material contrast echo the design language seen in Italian lighting of the same period, particularly in works by makers such as Stilnovo, while remaining a clear example of Philips’ Dutch design direction.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with a warm, naturally aged patina to the brass and minor surface wear consistent with age. It has been professionally rewired with a new inline switch and plug, ensuring full functionality.
A highly versatile and visually striking piece, ideal for use as a desk lamp, bedside light, or sculptural accent within a modern interior.
